Definition
WAN aggregation (also known as multilink or link integration) is a process that links different devices with different ISPs or modems into one connection. Each device receives the same amount of data traffic. The process takes place with the help of a protocol known as Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP).
The LACP links the devices and monitors the process. Depending on your preference, you can configure LACP to operate in either passive or active mode.
Benefits of Aggregated WAN Connection
- Improved internet connectivity. Multilink aggregation enables a smooth and fast browsing experience.
- Load balancing. It distributes traffic across various links simultaneously, which improves the load management for each connection.
- High reliability. Traffic can be routed to other Ethernet links through WAN aggregation. It reduces downtime and ensures continuity in business operations.
- Reduced complexity. Network optimization improves outcomes and the performance of your entire infrastructure.
