• Open the web browser (Firefox) and download the ExtremeVPN OpenVPN configuration files from the provided link.

• Extract the downloaded files and rename the folder to “OVPNfiles.”

• Open the Terminal from the Menu bar.

• By typing the below-given commands, Install the OpenVPN packages:
  1. sudo bash
  2. sudo apt-get install openvpn
• Access the directory where you saved the OpenVPN files (e.g., the Downloads folder).
• Copy and replace the “OVPNfiles” folder with the /etc/openvpn directory:
  1. cd Downloads/
  2. sudo cp -r OVPNfiles/* /etc/openvpn

• Copy the OVPNfiles folder to the /etc/openvpn directory.
• Change to the /etc/openvpn directory using the command: cd /etc/openvpn/.
• Connect to the VPN by running the command: sudo openvpn de2-ovpn-tcp.pointtoserver.co

In this scenario, let’s consider the Germany TCP server as an illustration for connecting to the VPN. Feel free to select any server from the provided list that suits your needs the most.

• Enter your ExtremeVPN credentials when prompted for Auth Username and Auth Password. (Refer to this link to find your VPN credentials)

• Once connected, your current VPN IP address will be displayed as 172.94.11.149 (second last line).

• You can verify your VPN IP and location by visiting this link.
• To disconnect from the VPN, press Ctrl+C in the same Terminal or use the command sudo killall OpenVPN in another terminal.
